Image The New Song (Cancao Nova) mission developed not on the national territory only (in Brazil), but as well as beyond-borders.  This internationalization of the Community showed how much it is mature to start the process of it’s recognition with the Holy Cathedral, having in mind that this Work of God already contributed with the evangelization in several countries.

To be recognized as an International Association of Faithful means to be at the service not only of a local Church (archdiocese or diocese) but, to the service of the Church in the entire world.

This act verifies that the Holy Cathedral affirms the communion of the Cancao Nova with the Church and that sees that it accomplish it mission in communion with the Successor of Pedro and the successors of the apostles, the bishops.

The canonical recognition of an association signifies also that to respective ecclesial authority (bishop diocesan, Holy, Episcopal, Holy Cathedral) took official knowledge of the existence of an association of faithful, through the statutes that were presented to them - cf. cânon 299, §3:  "No private association of faithful is recognized in the Church, if their statutes are not overhauled by the competent authority".

This authority, after to have examined the statutes of the association, to see if its content is according to the doctrine, the discipline and the integrity of the customs; It will pronounce about the authenticity Christian-ecclesial or not of this association.  In positive case, the statutes are recognized (or approved) and the association is officially welcomed by the Church as a gift of God.

Recognition of the private Associations of faithful

The private associations are constituted by a private agreement between groups of faithful that, in a free act, desire together to achieve some unique purposes of the ecclesial mission.  For an association to be recognized as such by the Church, it is necessary basically two things: that its purpose is according to the cânon 298, §1 and that have the statutes approved by the ecclesial competent authority.

See what says the cânon 298, §1:

"In the Church there are associations, distinct of the institutes of consecrated life and the apostolic life societies, such as the faithful, clergymen or laymen, or jointly clergymen and laymen, they bent themselves, by common effort, for foment a more perfect life, or to promote the public worship or the Christian doctrine, or for other apostolic works, which means, evangelization initiatives, exercising piety works or charity, with Christian spirit".
